Sebastian Valdemar's slender fingers swiped across his phone screen, his brow slightly furrowed.

"I'll stay with you." He pocketed his phone, his gaze settling on Evelyn Roland.

"Unnecessary." Evelyn caught his frequent glances at the device. "Theodore is looking for you."

Scarlett Galatea stepped forward with a gentle smile. "Don't worry, Mr. Valdemar. I'll accompany Miss Roland on the tour."

She deliberately emphasized the words "designated liaison."

"No need for the trouble." Evelyn strode straight toward the lab. "I'll manage on my own."

Sebastian gave her a lingering look before leaving. "Call me anytime."

Scarlett quickened her pace to catch up, her tone overly familiar. "Are you interested in pharmaceutical research, Miss Roland?"

"Not particularly." Evelyn didn't bother turning around.

Scarlett's smile froze.

Whispers drifted from a corner. "Who does she think she is—"

The voice cut off abruptly.

Evelyn's icy glare silenced the female employee instantly.

"This way, please." Scarlett forced a smile as she led the way.

Inside the lab, a researcher poured green reagent into a blue solution.

The expected reaction never occurred.

"Strange..." the researcher muttered under his breath.

Evelyn's eyes flicked to the data screen, her pupils contracting slightly.

"Try again." The researcher's hands trembled as he repeated the procedure.

The solution remained unchanged.

Evelyn suddenly stepped forward.

"Miss Roland!" Scarlett gasped.

The researcher whirled around. "Unauthorized personnel are not allowed—"

"The ratio is wrong." Evelyn's voice was frosty.
