Chapter 182
Evelyn Roland gasped sharply as fresh blood seeped through her freshly bandaged wound.
Her gaze locked onto Vincent Laurent, pinned to the ground by Sebastian Valdemar. "Vincent! Did you kill your sister-in-law?"
"Bullshit!" Vincent's eyes burned crimson as he thrashed like a caged beast. "I didn't touch her!"
Sebastian's brow furrowed. Noticing Evelyn's bloodied bandage, he increased the pressure on Vincent's arm.
A sickening crack echoed through the room.
"Argh!" Vincent howled like a slaughtered pig, his right arm now limp.
"You'll all die!" he shrieked hysterically. "Just like that bitch!"
Henry Laurent's face darkened with rage, veins bulging at his temples.
Bam!
His fist connected with Vincent's face, sending two bloodied teeth flying.
"After everything I've done for you!" Henry panted, knuckles white. "You murdered my wife! You hurt my son! Are you even human?"
"Mr. Laurent!" Evelyn stepped between them. "Don't dirty your hands with trash."
"Daddy..." Hugo's trembling voice came from behind.
Henry froze, then turned to scoop his pale-faced son into his arms. "It's okay now. Daddy's here."
The boy curled into his father's embrace, shaking.
Sebastian planted his foot on Vincent's back as the man tried to crawl away. "Stay put."
The three adults exited, Henry locking the door behind them like a man drained of all vitality.
"Thank you both." His voice was hoarse as he bowed deeply.
Sirens wailed in the distance.
Then Hugo collapsed.
"Miss Roland!" Henry panicked.
Evelyn knelt, fingers finding the boy's pulse. "Just shock. He'll be fine."
A silver needle flashed over candlelight before finding its mark.
Thirty minutes later, she withdrew the last needle. "Three more sessions for full recovery."
"Really?" Henry's eyes welled up. "I'll give you the vineyard!"
Sebastian arched a brow at Evelyn.
"No need." Her refusal was crisp. "My arrangement with Mr. Valdemar stands."
Amusement flickered in Sebastian's eyes.
This woman never ceased to surprise him.
Night breeze played with Evelyn's hair as they left the estate.
"That doll," she suddenly stopped. "How did you know?"
Sebastian's lips curved slightly before he melted into the shadows.
The moonlight kept his secret.
