Chapter 111

"The test results are in. You were never pregnant." The doctor tossed the report onto the desk with a cold expression. "Your stomach pain was gastrointestinal. Why waste gynecological resources?"

The medical staff shot her disdainful looks before leaving the examination room.

Nathan Evans' face darkened instantly. He grabbed Victoria Lowell by the collar. "You dared lie about being pregnant?"

"No, Nathan, let me explainโ€”" Victoria clutched his arm in panic.

Evelyn Roland smirked, picked up her bag, and turned to leave. Nathan immediately abandoned the sobbing Victoria and chased after her.

"Get lost." She wrinkled her nose in disgust.

But Nathan clung to her like stubborn gum.

A sharp screech of brakes cut through the air.

A black Maybach pulled up smoothly beside her. The window rolled down, revealing Sebastian Valdemar's sharply defined features.

"Get in."

Tires kicked up dust, forcing Nathan to stumble back coughing. He glared at the retreating car, fists clenched until his knuckles cracked.

"Evelyn Roland, just you wait!"

Inside the car, the faint scent of ambergris lingered.

Evelyn watched the scenery blur past outside the window, her tense nerves finally relaxing.

"You can drop me at the next intersection. Thanks for today."

Sebastian's long fingers tapped the steering wheel. "Running off after using me?"

"Don't flatter yourself." She calmly tightened her seatbelt. "The designs will be ready next week. They won't delay Valdemar's product launch."

The car slowed to a stop under a canopy of sycamore trees.

"Confident, aren't you?" He turned, his amber eyes locking onto her like a predator's.

"CH never takes on uncertain ventures." She unbuckled her seatbelt, red lips curving. "Just prepare the contract, Mr. Valdemar."

The rhythmic tapping stopped abruptly.

Sebastian leaned in suddenly, his warm breath brushing her ear. "I look forward to it."

Evelyn pushed the car door open with practiced composure. Her stiletto had barely touched the pavement when she spotted Alexander Roland standing three paces away.

In the rearview mirror, Sebastian narrowed his eyes and reversed back toward them.

"What a coincidence, Mr. Roland." He rolled down the window, gaze flickering between the siblings. "Fancy meeting KL's CEO in a place like this."

Alexander's impeccably tailored suit cast a long shadow in the afternoon sun.
