Chapter 22
Evelyn Roland had long seen through his intentions, which was why she dared to put on such a brazen performance.
"Cat got your tongue, Mr. Valdemar? Or are you throwing a tantrum like a three-year-old?"
"A pat-down? What is this, a cop drama?"
Sebastian Valdemar fell silent under Olivia Valdemar's scolding.
Evelyn tugged lightly at Olivia's sleeve, her voice tinged with hurt. "I'm a designer at KL. Mr. Valdemar rejected our department's draft for personal reasons..."
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll handle this."
The way Evelyn called her "Olivia" made the older woman's heart swell with affection. She was ready to claim this sweet, clever girl as her little sister on the spot.
"Sebastian, I order you to approve KL's design proposal."
"Sis, I don't make decisions based on emotions. Their work genuinely doesn't meet our standards."
Olivia hesitated. She knew her brother wellโhe wasn't the type to jeopardize the company over petty grievances.
Evelyn seized the moment. "If Mr. Valdemar truly separates personal feelings from business, then give me a chance to redesign."
A flicker of doubt crossed Sebastian's eyes.
An intern, taking on such an important project?
As if reading his mind, Evelyn smiled calmly. "Just ten minutes. If you're not satisfied, I'll leave immediately."
"Fine."
She strode to his desk, pulled out paper and a pen, and began sketching.
Her pen danced across the page. In under ten minutes, a complete summer jewelry collection materialized.
A pale blue heart-shaped pendant shimmered like a clear spring, while undulating chains evoked the refreshing touch of ocean breezes.
"Exquisite!" Olivia gasped. "Sebastian, we're going with this!"
Sebastian's pulse quickened.
The design perfectly aligned with their unreleased "Breeze" theme.
He checked his watch: eight minutes.
"Satisfied?" Evelyn asked.
"Impressive." He handed her a contract. "Sign here."
As she took the document, a glint of triumph flashed in her eyes.
Not only had she defused the crisisโshe'd secured the project.
This round belonged to her.
Olivia eagerly added her on WeChat and requested a custom piece.
Watching Evelyn leave, Olivia sighed. "What a delightful girl."
Sebastian smirked.
Delightful?
More like a cunning little fox.
