Chapter 272

Sunlight streamed through the gap in the curtains as Evelyn Roland stretched lazily. She had slept unusually well last night, not even a single dream disturbing her rest.

While washing up, she studied her reflection in the mirror. Her complexion looked much better than before, and the dark circles under her eyes had noticeably faded.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

"Hello?" She dried her hands and answered.

"The documents are ready," Sebastian Valdemar's voice came through the receiver. "I'll be there in thirty minutes."

After hanging up, Evelyn quickly changed into a light gray tracksuit. She tied her hair into a high ponytail, giving her a crisp, professional look.

The sound of a car engine rumbled in the driveway just as she finished applying sunscreen.

Sebastian was driving a black Range Rover today. Evelyn opened the passenger door and spotted a manila folder on the seat.

"Is this everything?" She fastened her seatbelt and picked up the folder.

"Everything we could find, from birth till now." Sebastian turned the steering wheel. "Focus on the last five years."

Evelyn raised an eyebrow at the thick stack of papers inside. When she reached the third page, she froze.

"Villa Tuscany..." She pointed at two identical addresses. "Domestic and international?"

Sebastian smirked coldly. "I checked it out personally yesterday. It's just a high-end club."

"A club?"

"Outwardly a private residence, but in reality..." He paused. "People are kept there."

Understanding dawned on Evelyn instantly. She flipped to the photos and saw two different womenโ€”one of Asian descent, the other blonde with blue eyes.

"One's a Chinese-American, the other's a foreigner." Sebastian's voice was icy. "The timeline matches right before Theodore was born."

Evelyn inhaled sharply. Howard Merouin was keeping mistresses both at home and abroadโ€”how audacious.

"Does Olivia know?" she couldn't help asking.

Sebastian shook his head. "My sister trusts him too much."

Remembering how Olivia had defended Howard last night, Evelyn's heart sank. That kind of loyalty didn't seem fakeโ€”it was genuine trust.

"This alone won't be enough," she murmured.

Sebastian gave her an approving glance. "Exactly. My sister would think it's a setup."

As the car merged onto the main road, sunlight spilled through the window onto the documents. Evelyn suddenly noticed a detail.

"Wait..." She pointed at one page. "Howard makes regular monthly transfers to these two accounts."

Sebastian's eyes sharpened. "Did you check the recipients?"

"One is the villa's butler, the other..." She turned the page, and her pupils constricted. "A private hospital."

They exchanged a glance, both realizing the implication.

"Theodore's birth certificate..." Sebastian's voice dropped low. "Might be forged."
