Chapter 323

"I adore both gifts, Julian."

Evelyn Roland toyed with the exquisite gift box, a faint smile playing on her lips.

Julian Roland's eyes softened as he ruffled her hair. "Since when do you stand on ceremony with me? Rest now. I'll handle the rest."

His gaze lingered on her tired expression. "You look exhausted."

Evelyn shot an exasperated glance at Bianca Savigny beside her.

The dark circles were clearly on Bianca's face.

"Be good."

Faced with her overprotective brother, she felt both touched and helpless.

"Julian, I want to deal with this personally." Her fingers tapped the table, eyes sharp. "They came after me. I won't be satisfied until I handle it myself."

"Is this about Sebastian?" Julian's brow furrowed, voice turning icy.

Just hearing that name made his entire body tense with disapproval.

The way that man looked at Evelynโ€”he knew exactly what it meant.

"Julian!" Evelyn's wrist twisted, jawline tightening. "I just want to punch some scumbags, that's all!"

"Really?"

"Absolutely."

Julian studied her intently, his silent warning clear. "Remember your words."

"Call me if you need backup."

"Got it." She nodded obediently.

A black sedan had been waiting outside when they stepped out.

"Go ahead, you'll be late."

Only when the car disappeared did she exhale deeply.

A doting brother's affection could sometimes be... overwhelming.

Still, she owed him this time. Without Julian, the leads wouldn't have surfaced so quickly.

"Time to close the net."

A cold smile curled her lips, eyes glinting dangerously.

Back in the living room, she sank into the sofa, replaying the video footage.

"Sebastian Valdemar... what will you choose?"

Her heart gave an odd flutter at the thought of his pale face.

"Since when did you become so indecisive, Evelyn Roland?"

Shaking her head with self-mockery, she yanked out the USB drive and grabbed her purse.

Chรขteau Blanc.

"Good afternoon, Madame!"

A gardener hastily removed his hat in greeting.

"Stay hydrated in this heat."

She nodded courteously, her gaze sweeping over the sun-scorched flowerbeds.

As she walked down the corridor, she missed the gardener's thoughtful stare.

The main hall blazed with light.
