Chapter 151
Evelyn Roland's gaze lowered slightly, her emotions as unfathomable as a deep pool.
"I'm only reclaiming Grandfather's share." Her fingers tapped lightly on the desk, her voice cool. "As for the rest of the Lowells, they mean nothing to me."
She looked down at the three figures kneeling before her, the hem of her dress perfectly still.
"Once the transfer is complete, we're even." She paused. "No further contact."
Vincent Lowell's face turned ashen, his nails digging into his palms.
"Still here?" Edward Roland's icy shout sent the trio scrambling out in panic.
He stepped forward and took his daughter's hand. "Let's go home. Don't blame your mother and me."
Evelyn's lashes fluttered. "I never blamed you."
It was the truth.
Since being reunited with her birth family, she'd never made a single demandโexcept for keeping her identity hidden. Her quiet understanding made Sophia Roland secretly weep at night.
Yet a coldness lingered in Evelyn's chest.
CH Holdings had just established itself in A-city, with overseas assets still being transferred. The manor was too far, too inconvenient.
"I'll visit often." The corner of her lips lifted slightly. "I'm just not used to living at Blenheim."
Sophia looked uncertain. "Really?"
Only after repeated assurances did her parents finally leave, glancing back every few steps.
"Your mother has silenced the Lowells," Sophia added anxiously before departing. "If anyone troubles you at school, you must tell us."
"Mmm."
Watching them go, Evelyn opened the university forum. Every post about her had vanishedโeven search terms were blocked.
The Rolands' doing, no doubt.
She traced her phone screen, warmth flickering in her eyes.
Their soft spot for Isabella Langley was just twenty years of parental affection clouding their judgment. Perhaps... she needed to give this newfound family bond more time.
Her phone rang abruptly.
"Boss, the contracts are ready," Dylan Orlando's voice came through. "Should I deliver them to Valdemar Group?"
Ten design blueprints awaited final approval.
"I'll go myself." She needed to watch Sebastian Valdemar sign themโonly then would this deal be settled.
The Valdemar Tower blazed with light.
Isabella Langley swayed into the lobby, her miniskirt showcasing legs so pale they nearly glowed.
"Please inform Mr. Valdemar," she tucked a stray lock behind her ear, "I'm here to express my gratitude."
The receptionist dialed the internal line. "There's a Ms. Rolandโ"
"Roland?" Sebastian's finger stilled.
Had the mine matter been resolved? At least the woman kept her word. His lips curved. "Send her up."
When Isabella entered his office, Sebastian was lounging on the leather sofa. His expression darkened instantly.
"You?"
