Chapter 360
The main house was meticulously designed. Beyond Evelyn Roland and Bianca Savigny's bedrooms, there were elegant guest rooms and a refined sitting area.
Theodore Ashcroft struggled to carry the unconscious man into the guest room, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. He glanced at his boss's furrowed brow but hesitated to speak.
"Stay here and watch over him."
"Thank you, Miss Roland."
Though he didn't understand why his boss had suddenly calmed down, Theodore was certain Evelyn had something to do with it.
"Master, what's going on?" Bianca whispered. "I've never seen Mr. Valdemar like this before."
Evelyn's fingers curled slightly. She was just as curious, but now wasn't the time to question the man in question.
The sharp ring of the phone shattered the silence.
"Olivia?"
"Evelyn, is Sebastian at the vineyard?" Olivia Valdemar's voice trembled with barely concealed anxiety.
"Yes. He just fell asleep."
"Oh, thank God he's with you." Olivia's voice suddenly rose. "Waitโasleep? What happened?"
Evelyn recounted the events truthfully.
A heavy sigh traveled through the line.
"Today... is the anniversary of my parents' death."
Evelyn's pupils constricted. The answer hit her like a sledgehammer to the chest.
"Please take care of him." Olivia's voice cracked as she finally revealed the painful past she'd kept buried for years.
"They were rushing back for Sebastian's birthday that day, but..." Her words grew fainter. "He waited all night. The next morning, all he got was..."
The cold image of the morgue flashed through Olivia's mind. She still remembered the hollow look in her brother's eyes.
"After that, he became hypersensitive to anything related to cars."
Evelyn's grip on the phone turned white-knuckled. Now she understood why Sebastian had reacted that way to the cake model.
"Olivia, I'm so sorry..."
After hanging up, Evelyn's gaze lingered on the second-floor guest room. What kind of pain was that man carrying?
"Bianca, go make some porridge."
Bianca blinked. "For who?"
"Just do it." Evelyn's voice was soft. "I'll explain later."
With reluctant steps, Bianca turned away, her heart heavy. But she couldn't disobey her master's orders.
