Chapter 355
Isabella Langley's fingers trembled uncontrollably as she stepped out of the Beverly Hills gated community.
Her knuckles turned white from gripping the steering wheel too tightly.
The absurd words of that couple still echoed in her mind like a surreal nightmare.
Had she known this would happen, she would never have come here so recklessly.
The fear of being exposed while trying to break off the engagement coiled around her like a venomous snake.
The white villa gleamed blindingly under the sunlight. Isabella bit her lower lip, but there was no one she could confide in.
Valdemar Group Headquarters.
The lobby was unusually quiet during the lunch hour.
Evelyn Roland glanced around but didn't see the receptionist from last time.
She walked straight toward the CEO's private elevator.
"Miss!" The new receptionist hurried after her in panic. "That's the executive elevator."
Evelyn studied the unfamiliar face before her.
"Are you new here?" The corner of her lips lifted slightly. "I'm practically a regular."
Just as the receptionist was about to protest, her eyes widened in surprise.
Theodore Ashcroft approached swiftly and respectfully took Evelyn's handbag.
Before the elevator doors closed, Evelyn didn't notice the two pairs of eyes watching her from around the corner.
"Evelyn?"
Olivia Valdemar's voice made Evelyn pause mid-step.
"Just delivering some reports." She nodded calmly, her gaze lingering briefly on Vincent Valdemar.
A flicker of something unreadable passed through Vincent's eyes. "Miss Roland, it's been a while."
"Thanks to you." Her tone remained even.
Olivia enthusiastically linked arms with her. "Perfect timing! Let's have lunch together."
Inside the office, the quarterly financial statements for Chรขteau Blanc were spread across the desk.
"This... is just one quarter's revenue?" Olivia flipped through the documents in disbelief.
Evelyn pulled up the stock performance chartโthe line shot upward like a rocket.
"My God!" Olivia's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Even the usually composed Theodore couldn't hide his astonishment.
Vincent stared at the report, his expression inscrutable.
