Chapter 327
A bolt of lightning split the sky.
Inside the room, the mentor and apprentice sitting across from each other simultaneously looked up toward the window.
The sky darkened abruptly, thick as ink.
Heavy storm clouds hung oppressively low, as if they might collapse at any moment. A fierce wind whipped up fallen leaves, the temperature plummeted, and the swirling black clouds overhead promised a torrential downpour.
"Boomโ"
The thunderclap was deafening.
Lightning illuminated the entire sky, its blinding white light forcing eyes shut.
Bianca Savigny shuddered, her fingers unconsciously clutching the hem of her dress.
Evelyn Roland's gaze darkened.
She stared at the pouring rain outside, her thoughts turbulent. How should she broach the subject of that video with Sebastian Valdemar? Once the investigation began, it would inevitably alert him.
"Master," Bianca suddenly spoke, "we should tell Mr. Valdemar. Even though he isn't the direct victim, he's been dragged into this mess. I'm worried..."
She bit her lip, her delicate face scrunched with concern.
"Worried about what?" Evelyn lifted her eyes.
"Worried Mr. Valdemar might act on emotion."
Evelyn's expression tightened. She had indeed underestimated Sebastian's capacity for restraint. Rather than leaving him in the dark, it was better to confront the truth head-on.
"Contact me immediately if anything happens."
The Valdemar Group headquarters stood tall and unyielding amid the storm.
Evelyn stepped into the lobby, water droplets sliding off her umbrella. Before she could speak, the receptionist rushed forward with excitement.
"Miss Roland!"
The starry-eyed gaze gave Evelyn pause.
"I watched your livestream!" The receptionist's cheeks flushed pink. "When you stood next to Mr. Valdemar, it was just..."
"Just what?"
A deep male voice sounded from behind.
Sebastian had appeared in the lobby unnoticed, the corners of his lips lifted. For once, he wasn't in formal attireโa light-colored shirt softened his usual sharp demeanor.
The receptionist instantly fell silent, bowing her head nervously.
Evelyn turned, meeting those smiling peach-blossom eyes. Rainwater dripped from her hair, spreading tiny puddles on the polished floor.
"Looking for me?" Sebastian took a step closer.
His presence was suddenly intimate, carrying the crisp scent of rain. Evelyn tightened her grip on her bagโinside lay a secret that could shatter their fragile peace.
