Chapter 401
"The photo is photoshopped. I have proof too."
Oliver Valrose stubbornly clung to his lie. Having set this trap, he'd naturally prepared a backup plan.
Evelyn Roland arched an eyebrow, a cold glint flashing in her eyes. "Really? Why don't you show us?"
Oliver pulled out his phone and displayed the photo to the crowd.
As the image circulated, murmurs rippled through the room.
Even the business tycoons who'd previously dismissed Oliver now looked unsettled.
Who would've thought this insignificant nobody had connections with the legendary Master Chen?
The elderly man in the photo, radiating vitality, was none other than Master Chenโthe titan of the jewelry world.
These industry experts recognized the icon immediately.
"Mr. Valrose, you're close with Master Chen?"
"Could you introduce us?" A businessman pressed forward eagerly, eyes alight with fervor.
"That... might not be possible."
Evelyn scoffed softly.
"What about that raw jadeite? Are you considering selling it?" Several female entrepreneurs leaned in with keen interest.
"Has Master Chen released any new pieces recently?"
It was common knowledge that Master Chen not only appraised treasures but also crafted jade masterpieces himself.
Oliver's smile stiffened, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. "I haven't been in touch lately. I wouldn't know."
How could he possibly know Master Chen's whereabouts? That photo was a shamelessly begged snapshotโthe old master didn't even recognize him.
"Could you ask him next time you meet?"
"Y-yes, of course."
Oliver forced a nod, his stomach churning.
When would he ever cross paths with Master Chen again? Last time, he'd waited outside the man's residence for weeks without catching a glimpse.
"Mr. Valrose, could you share Master Chen's contact?"
A vein throbbed at Oliver's temple.
"That... isn't appropriate."
If he actually had Master Chen's number, would he be putting on this charade?
At least no one would dare verify it here. A little boasting never hurt anyone.
Oliver straightened slightly, regaining some false confidence.
At the front, Evelyn rested her chin on one hand, expression cool.
But Sebastian Valdemar beside her recognized the calm before the storm.
Her lips curled into a frosty smile.
"Since you're so close with Master Chen, why not call him right now?" Evelyn snapped her fingers. "Let's all witness this special connection. You wouldn't refuse, would you?"
