Chapter 393

"Stop!"

The novice monk and acting abbot cried out simultaneously, rushing forward in panic to intervene.

Isabella Langley clenched the hem of her robe, her nails digging into her palms. She opened her mouth but realized she had no right to speak.

"Abbot, how can outsiders be allowed to wander the sacred temple grounds?" The novice monk's forehead glistened with sweat.

Master Xingyun ignored him, bowing respectfully to Evelyn Roland instead. "Please follow me, benefactor."

In the courtyard before the meditation hall, Evelyn strode ahead with her hands clasped behind her back. The business tycoons trailed behind nervously, their eyes darting around for any sign of venomous insects.

"This one."

Evelyn pushed open the novice monk's door without hesitation. She emerged less than five minutes later.

Standing on the steps, her gaze swept over the crowd like a blade. "Julian," she commanded coldly, "drag out that imposter monk."

Before anyone could react, Julian Roland had already flung a robed man onto the stone pavement.

"Ah!" The imposter groaned as his face smashed against the granite.

"Abbot, save me!" He lifted his head, revealing a twisted expression.

Master Xingyun gasped. "Cloud Spirit?"

A murderous glint flashed in the imposter's eyes as he lunged at Evelyn. She sidestepped effortlessly and kicked him several meters back.

"Stay down!" Julian delivered another sharp kick.

The imposter curled into a whimpering ball. "Spare me!"

"What's going on?" The crowd murmured in confusion.

Evelyn pushed open the meditation hall door. "See for yourselves."

She yanked aside the bedding and pulled out a bulging cloth bundle, tossing it to Master Xingyun. "Since when do monks hoard this much cash?"

The bundle split open, spilling thick stacks of banknotes.

"My God!" Gasps erupted from the onlookers.

The imposter's face turned ashen as he collapsed like a deflated sack.
