Chapter 152

Sebastian's voice turned icy. "What are you doing here?"

Isabella's red lips curved into a smirk, her eyes glinting with charm. "I came to thank you, of course. After our encounter at CH Group, if you hadn't spoken up for me, the KL Jewelry deal wouldn't have gone so smoothly."

The air froze.

Sebastian let out a cold laugh, his gaze sharp.

"You're mistaken. I never spoke up for the Langley family."

He'd expected Evelyn to intervene for KL, but he hadn't anticipated her demanding a staggering 30% of the profits.

"Leave if you have nothing else to say."

He massaged his temples irritably. Had he really been foolish enough to expect gratitude from Evelyn?

What had he been thinking?

"I'm sorry..." Isabella bit her lip, feigning hurt. "I was wrong about the media thing. Sebastian, you can't dismiss my feelings over one mistakeโ€”"

The office door swung open.

Evelyn stood in the doorway, a file in hand.

Her eyes flicked to Isabella, who was practically draped over Sebastian, her low-cut dress leaving little to the imagination. Evelyn arched a brow.

Typical. Men never saw through the act.

Not her problem, though.

"Am I interrupting? Should I come back later?"

"Get in here!" Sebastian shot to his feet, instinctively putting distance between himself and Isabella.

Isabella's face darkened, her anger barely contained.

"What are you doing here?" she snapped.

Evelyn gave her a cool glance. "Delivering a contract."

"A contract?" Isabella sneered. "Since when does a Stanford student work with Valdemar Group? If you wanted to see Sebastian, you could've just said so. Who are you trying to fool?"

Sebastian's eyes narrowed.

"Isabella, how do you know she attends Stanford?" His voice was dangerously calm. "Are you two acquainted?"

Evelyn frowned.

"Iโ€”I saw it on her social media," Isabella stammered.

"Really?" Sebastian's gaze shifted to Evelyn, amused. "I was under the impression she never posts, just like me."

Evelyn resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

Idiot.

"Ms. Roland is a contracted designer for Valdemar. We have a professional relationship." Sebastian's tone turned glacial. "Shall I call security?"

"Sebastianโ€”" Isabella whined, dragging out his name.

The door burst open with a kick.

"Enough with the act," a sharp female voice cut in. "The stench of desperation is giving me a headache. Didnโ€™t you hear my brother tell you to leave?"
