Chapter 237
Evelyn Roland burst through the school gates, her gaze instantly locking onto the familiar black Maybach parked across the street.
Sebastian Valdemar's car was still there.
She tightened her grip on her backpack straps and hurried across the road.
Inside the car, Sebastian's eyes remained fixed on the school entrance. When he saw Evelyn running out with panic written across her face, his brow furrowed.
"Turn around."
Theodore Ashcroft swiftly turned the steering wheel, executing a smooth U-turn before pulling up right in front of Evelyn.
The moment the door opened, she slipped inside.
"Someone's following me," she said breathlessly.
Sebastian's gaze swept over her, noting the slight tremble in her fingers.
"Now you'll let me drive you?"
Evelyn nodded, only then noticing he'd changed into a dark gray suit. Earlier at the school gates, he'd been wearing black.
"Thank you."
"Don't thank me."
"Okay. Thank you."
Theodore stifled a laugh, keeping his eyes firmly on the road. In the rearview mirror, the CEO's expression was noticeably softer than usual.
Unnoticed by them, a silver sedan quietly trailed behind.
Oliver Valrose clenched the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white as he glared at the luxury car worth millions ahead. A vehicle like that would take him a decade of hard work to afford.
"Playing hard to get," he sneered before pressing down on the accelerator.
The Maybach entered the most exclusive villa district in the city center.
Sebastian stepped out first, shielding the top of the car door with his hand. Evelyn followed, and they walked side by side into the mansion.
From the bushes in the distance, the rapid clicks of a camera shutter broke the silence.
Oliver captured every moment but couldn't get a clear shot of the man's face. Though the build matched, the suit color was wrong.
"Bitch!" He slammed his fist against the steering wheel before immediately sending the photos to Isabella Langley.
Upon receiving them, Isabella zoomed in with a cold smirk.
"Found yourself a body double?" She flicked through the images disdainfully. "Let's see how long your luck lasts."
Inside the villa, Evelyn finally relaxed.
Sebastian handed her a glass of warm water. When their fingers brushed, she felt the warmth of his palm.
"Don't go out alone these days," he said in a low voice.
Evelyn cradled the cup, letting the heat seep into her fingertips. In that moment, she suddenly realized how comforting it felt to have him by her side.
