Chapter 82
Daniel stepped into the living room, his voice warm. "I've already arranged for Margaret to settle in. Honestly, you don't need to bring anything. The new house is fully furnished."
They had renovated the entire place just for Evelyn, ensuring she could move in without lifting a finger.
Evelyn smiled, her fingers brushing over an old vase. "I stayed behind to clear these out. Once Aunt Margaret sees the new decor, she wonโt even remember these existed."
Daniel chuckled, ruffling her hair affectionately. "Come on, letโs go."
Before leaving, Evelyn paused, casting one last glance at the house. Then, without hesitation, she turned away.
The past was behind her. Her future was waiting.
Both the house and her relationship deserved a fresh start.
An hour later, the car pulled into their new neighborhood.
Evelyn stepped out, Daniel by her side, heading straight for their new home. Margaret was already inside, utterly charmedโespecially by the kitchen.
That evening, they cooked together, then shared dinner over a video call with her brothers.
Nord City was a five-hour flight from Bern City. The last thing Evelyn wanted was her brothers dropping everything just for her.
The next morning, a text from Sophia lit up her phone. "Evelyn, you're trending again! Tell me honestlyโis that really Harrison Sinclair?"
Evelyn clicked the link.
The headline blared: "Harrison Sinclairโs New Romance: Moving In With Mystery Woman!"
The photo showed only their backs as they entered the residential area. No faces, but Danielโs resemblance to Harrison made it easy for fans to jump to conclusions.
Evelyn rolled her eyes.
She forwarded the link to Daniel. "Sorry, the paparazzi struck again. Could you explain this to Mr. Sinclair?"
Daniel was in Nord City for Harrisonโs film shoot. Naturally, as his stunt double, he had work too.
Evelyn rested a hand on her stomach. Still flat, but soonโ
She wandered through the house, admiring the furnishings but craving a personal touch. Deciding to shop for decorations, she told Margaret and hailed a cab.
At the furniture store, she barely had time to browse when a commotion caught her attention. A well-dressed man in a khaki suit led a small crowd.
Nathaniel.
Evelyn ducked into another aisle, hoping to avoid him.
But Nathaniel stopped mid-conversation, his gaze locking onto her. He excused himself and followed.
The store owner trailed behind, pitching urgently, "Mr. Whitmore, our cribs are imported, formaldehyde-free, and eco-friendlyโperfect for your baby!"
Evelyn froze.
Cribs? Again?
Hadnโt she already bought one for him? How many children did he and Victoria plan to have?
Nathanielโs jaw tightened as he approached. Without warning, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her aside.
Evelyn yanked her arm free. "What are you doing? People are watching!"
His eyes burned into hers. "Are you playing me, Evelyn?"
