Chapter 291

Alexander Montgomery gathered the entire Technical Department the moment he discovered the breach in the subsidiary's internal system.

Whoever that hacker was, they either had nerves of steelโ€”or a death wish.

Seated in his office, Alexander scanned the intrusive text on his screen, his jaw tightening. He hadnโ€™t expected anyone bold enough to challenge him like this.

Not after establishing this subsidiary in Bern City.

Who was this reckless hacker?

His voice was ice. "You have ten minutes to erase that text. Thirty minutes to track the hacker down. I want them identified and brought to me. Fail, and you're all fired."

The technical team scrambled to their computers, fingers flying across keyboards as they initiated the trace.

Alexander yanked his tie loose and turned to his assistant. "Get Maxwell Harrison in here. Now. I want to know why a hacker is targeting him."

Meanwhile, Maxwell was already panicking. He dialed Victoria Sinclair in a rush. "Ms. Sinclair, we have a problem. Someone just hacked into the companyโ€™s system! Do you think that woman is behind this?"

Victoria scoffed. "Donโ€™t be ridiculous. She doesnโ€™t have the resources for something like this. Did you piss someone else off?"

She refused to believe Evelyn Carter could orchestrate such a sophisticated attack.

Maxwell hesitated. "But Ms. Sinclair, sheโ€™s been waiting outside the office for days. I kept brushing her off. And now this? The timingโ€™s too suspicious."

Victoria exhaled sharply. "Iโ€™m on my way. Just stay calm. Tell them itโ€™s unrelatedโ€”some random hacker testing our security. My brotherโ€™s team is the best. Theyโ€™ll handle it."

Maxwell swallowed hard. "Understood."

Ending the call, he wiped his clammy palms on his trousers before knocking on Alexanderโ€™s office door.

"Mr. Montgomery," he said, forcing composure. "You wanted to see me?"

Alexander didnโ€™t look up from his screen. "Care to explain why our system was hacked with a message demanding you?"

Maxwellโ€™s pulse spiked. "I swear, I have no idea! Weโ€™re a new companyโ€”competitors could be trying to sabotage us. This could be retaliation."

He wasnโ€™t about to confess. Not when Victoria was on her way.

Even if the truth came out, heโ€™d be safe. He was just following orders.

Alexander studied him, considering the logic. New businesses were vulnerable to underhanded tactics.

But involving a hacker?

That was personal.

His brother, Sebastian, was one of the best hackers alive. Whoever did this had no idea what theyโ€™d unleashed.

A technician burst in. "Sir, the hackerโ€™s good. They detected our countermeasures and vanished. The IPโ€™s masked, and their methods are polished. Tracking them will take time."

Alexanderโ€™s lips curled. "Bring me a laptop."

If they wanted a fight, heโ€™d give them one.
