Chapter 342
Horror finally dawned on the woman's face, her movements sluggish with delayed realization. "Alright, I'll go. Don't be angry. Let's both take some time. I'll wait for you. We can talk when you return to Nord City."
Christopher's gaze was icy. To him, there was nothing left to discuss between them.
Had she not crossed the line, he might have tolerated her petty games. But now that Evelyn was involved, he couldn't let it slide.
He gave a noncommittal hum. For now, sending this delusional woman back to Nord City was the solutionโkeeping her from causing trouble in Bern City and sparing Evelyn the drama.
His response lit a spark of hope in her. She packed her bags with renewed energy.
As long as they weren't officially over, she could still twist him around her finger once he returned to Nord City.
Christopher, now changed, strode out of the bedroom.
The sight of Evelyn standing with her back to him struck him as oddly endearing, and he chuckled. "Sit. Why are you standing there?"
She turned, still uneasy. "Since everything's settled, should I leave? Maybe the two of you should talk?" After all, this was between him and his girlfriend. Evelyn had no place interfering.
"No. If anyone's leaving, it's her. Not you." The moment the words left his lips, the woman stormed out of the suite, luggage in tow.
Now alone, Evelyn hesitated. "Christopher, did I cause trouble for you? Did you explain things to her?"
"She's not important. This kind of womanโ" He cut himself off, softening his tone. "Evelyn, she's just a girlfriend. Nothing more. She won't be your sister-in-law."
Evelyn's lips twitched. So it was officialโChristopher was a playboy!
Sensing her judgment, he clarified, "Evelyn, dating and marriage are two different things. What just happened proves we're not compatible."
The realization hit herโamong her six brothers, there was indeed a playboy.
Under the weight of his striking gaze, she couldn't help but sigh. Christopher did have that irresistible charm women fell for.
A pang of guilt flickered across his face as he rubbed his nose, sheepish. "Let's go to the tourist spot. I heard it's the perfect place to watch the sunset."
Evelyn nodded. His love life was his own mess to sort out. At least they were family.
Soon, they left Vania Hotel together and slipped into his car.
A sleek black luxury car idled by the curb. Nathaniel watched them drive off, his brow furrowing. "Find out who that man is."
Earlier, curiosity and concern had gnawed at him. He'd wanted to know what had unsettled Evelyn, worried for her safety.
It wasn't unreasonable, given how her adoptive parents had once dragged her into danger.
Yet here he wasโthe fool who'd worried for nothing.
Robert hesitated after calling the hotel for details, unsure whether to disclose the truth.
"Out with it," Nathaniel ordered, loosening his tie.
