Chapter 245
Evelyn didn't even flinch. Did Penelope really think she was still the same pushover from before?
In one swift motion, Evelyn grabbed Penelope's wrist and flipped her over her shoulder, sending the woman crashing onto the marble floor.
The tight pencil skirt Penelope wore rode up dramatically, revealing far more than she intendedโincluding the scandalous lace thong she had chosen to wear that day.
Tsking in mock disapproval, Evelyn remarked, "No safety shorts? Just a thong? My, my, Ms. Whitmore, you certainly know how to keep things interesting."
Penelope shrieked, her face burning with humiliation. "Evelyn, I swear I'll ruin you!"
Seeing the situation escalate, Victoria quickly turned to her security team. "Clear the room immediately. Confiscate any phones and make sure no one records this."
As Nathaniel's fiancรฉe, Victoria couldn't afford to let Penelope's disgrace reflect poorly on her. Any scandal involving the Whitmore family would tarnish her own reputation by association.
Nearby, Jonathan looked like he wanted to intervene, but the burly bodyguards swiftly ushered him out before he could utter a word.
Standing outside, Jonathan clenched his fists in frustration. He should have greeted Evelyn earlier.
A studio colleague whispered, "Mr. Reeves, Evelyn just humiliated Ms. Whitmore in front of everyone. Doesn't she realize the consequences?"
Jonathan had been too stunned to react at first.
But then again, if Evelyn's brothers had ties to the Montgomery family, this might just be high-society drama. Maybe he didnโt need to worry.
It also made him wonderโjust how powerful was Evelyn's family?
How else could she stand up to Victoria and Penelope so fearlessly?
By now, the engagement venue had nearly emptied.
Evelyn briefly considered snapping a few photos for leverage, only to remember her shattered phone.
Penelope scrambled to her feet, her face twisted in fury. "Victoria, order your guards to restrain Evelyn! I'm going to make her pay!"
Victoria feigned concern. "Ms. Carter, since you instigated this, an apology would be wise. Otherwise, this wonโt end well for you. Ms. Whitmore is very upset."
Evelyn smirked. "Forgotten what I have on you, Penelope? Try laying a finger on me and see what happens."
Penelope paled, her rage momentarily checked. "You're vile."
"Takes one to know one," Evelyn shot back, relishing the way Penelope seethed.
Beatrice scoffed. "If she wonโt touch you, I will. What dirt could you possibly have on me?"
Penelopeโs eyes gleamed. "Exactly! If we strip her down and take some compromising shots, sheโll have nothing left to threaten us with!"
Evelyn tensed as the bodyguards advanced. She needed an exitโfast. If she could reach Jonathan outside, sheโd be safe.
"Enough."
A voice, cold as steel, cut through the chaos.
Nathaniel stepped forward, his presence commanding silence. His sharp gaze locked onto Evelyn, something unreadable flickering in his eyes.
For a brief moment, their eyes metโbefore Evelyn quickly looked away.
Victoria brightened instantly, rushing to his side. "Nathaniel! I thought you had urgent business. Is everything settled?"
