Chapter 444

Evelyn shook her head. "No, I'm not from the Conservatory. I only began learning piano recently."

The interviewer's eyes widened. "But you played magnificently! Who's your instructor? Would you share?"

Her gaze flickered toward Christopher as a shy smile curved her lips. "Someone very special to me."

Her voice dropped to a whisper, making the audience erupt in delighted squeals.

Nathaniel's jaw tightened as he caught the fleeting glance between them. His mood darkened watching Evelyn's radiant smile on stage.

Someone special?

His fingers tugged impatiently at his silk tie.

Christopher deliberately met Nathaniel's glare. "Hear that? I'm the special one in Evelyn's life."

Nathaniel couldn't fathom why men kept swarming around her after their divorce.

As Christopher moved toward Evelyn, Victoria could no longer contain herself. She hurried after them, determined to uncover the truth.

The auditorium had emptied, but Nathaniel remained seated, his expression stormy.

Theodore approached with a bright smile. "Congratulations, Mrs. Whitmore! That was an extraordinary performance."

"The Conservatory dean believes she has exceptional talent. They're willing to accept her immediately if she wishes to transfer."

Nathaniel's gaze sharpened. "Make it happen."

"Of course, Mr. Whitmore. Though..." Theodore hesitated. "Mrs. Whitmore seems determined to graduate early from her current program."

"Early graduation?" Nathaniel's brow furrowed.

"Yes. She's been aggressively making up missed credits from her gap years. Attending every possible lecture to complete her sociology requirements."

Seeing Nathaniel's darkening expression, Theodore quickly added, "Though I'm certain she only wants to focus on her duties as Mrs. Whitmore."

Nathaniel knew better. Evelyn would never prioritize being his wife over her own ambitions.

Unless...she planned to leave for Nord City after graduation.

His gut twisted at the thought of her reuniting with Julian Montgomery. Especially now, with her pregnancy.

"Cancel her early graduation plans," Nathaniel commanded abruptly. "Arrange her Conservatory transfer immediately. I'll cover all expenses. Assign the finest instructors."

"Consider it done, sir."

Nathaniel's attention snapped back to the stage where Evelyn and Christopher were descending together, laughing.

He rose abruptly, striding toward them.

Meanwhile, Evelyn beamed at Christopher. "I was terrified up there! Never expected to be chosen. Thank heavens I've practiced so much."

Her smile faltered as she spotted Victoria approaching.
