Chapter 466

Evelyn spun around and noticed the carefully arranged packages. They appeared to be baby clothes, since the nursery furniture and stroller had likely been delivered separately.

After hesitating briefly, she proposed, "Maybe we should send these back. Martha isn't here anymore, and she wouldn't notice."

Nathaniel's brow creased in response. "Do you think I can't afford these? Keep them. You're leaving soon anyway. Consider them presents for the twins."

Evelyn blinked in surprise. Since when did Nathaniel care about children?

Right now, she couldn't decipher Nathaniel's motives at all.

She looked away. "The babies aren't due for months, and nobody knows I'm pregnant yet. I don't want to haul all this home so soon."

Nathaniel's eyes sharpened. Did this mean Julian didn't know about her condition?

Perhaps Evelyn had doubts about Julian after all.

This thought visibly improved Nathaniel's mood. "Then we'll store them at my place for now. You can collect them whenever you're ready."

"Besides," Evelyn added lightly, "you might need them yourself someday."

"I told you I'm never having biological children," Nathaniel snapped, his frown deepening.

Seeing his stern expression, Evelyn felt even less inclined to reveal the truth about her pregnancy.

Yet she couldn't bear the thought of her children growing up without a father's love.

After leaving the mall, Evelyn went straight to campus to study, her upcoming finals weighing on her mind.

"Evelyn?"

She turned to see Danielle approaching.

"Danielle! Where have you been? I haven't heard from you in weeks. I even got that conductor's autograph for you - you could've taken photos with him!"

Danielle looked sheepish. "Family issues kept me away. What about you? Been busy?"

"Just cramming for exams to graduate faster. You know I've been delayed years because of missing credits," Evelyn explained.

"What are your plans after graduation?"

"I'm moving to Nord City." A soft smile touched Evelyn's lips at the mention of her family's hometown.

After chatting awhile, Danielle excused herself to the restroom.

Once outside, she quickly dialed Victoria. "Ms. Sinclair? I've got news. Evelyn plans to relocate to Nord City after graduation."

"Nord City?" Victoria's grip on the phone turned white-knuckled. "You're certain?"

How dare that little bitch consider moving to Nord City?

Had Evelyn remembered something? Or worse - had the Montgomerys already discovered her true identity?

No, impossible. If they'd found their real heiress, it would be public knowledge by now.

Victoria's face hardened. "Find out why she's going there. Immediately. We're running out of time."

She needed answers before Evelyn made that move.

If things were truly unraveling, she'd have to take drastic measures.

Ending the call, Victoria sped to the hospital to interrogate Julian.

She marched straight to his office. "Julian, got a minute?"

"I'm swamped. What do you want?" His tone was glacial.

Victoria took a steadying breath. "I have incredible news - I've located the true Montgomery heiress."
