Chapter 483

Evelyn Carter stepped back, her eyes widening in shock as she recognized the phone in question belonged to Olivia Montgomery.

So, Olivia was the VIP cardholder?

But according to Penelope Whitmoreโ€™s earlier explanation, obtaining such an exclusive membership required not just a million-dollar annual expenditure, but also proof of elite social standing. It wasnโ€™t something just anyone could acquire.

Was Oliviaโ€™s family truly that wealthy?

Penelope smirked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Evelyn, did you two steal someoneโ€™s card? Now that youโ€™ve been caught, whatโ€™s your excuse going to be?"

Beatrice Harrington glanced at the buzzing phone on the sofa before turning to the sales associate. "Is the owner of this phone in the fitting room, perhaps?"

Just then, Olivia strolled over, casually picking up the phone with a flick of her wrist.

"Sorry, but this is mine," she said coolly.

Penelopeโ€™s face twisted in disbelief. "Thatโ€™s impossible. Just because the real owner isnโ€™t here doesnโ€™t mean you can claim their belongings!"

Since when did Evelyn have connections to people like this?

Beatrice fixed the sales associate with a sharp glare. "Answer me. Where is the actual owner of this phone? Bring her out now! Someoneโ€™s trying to steal her VIP card and phone."

The sales associate, visibly flustered, stammered, "Ms. Harrington, this phone does belong to Ms. Montgomery. I verified their details when they entered the store."

Beatriceโ€™s expression shifted instantly as she rushed to Olivia, holding out the VIP card with both hands.

"My deepest apologies for the misunderstanding. This was entirely our mistake, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused."

Evelyn could only stare, struggling to process the sudden turn of events.

Then Olivia extended the card toward her. "Evelyn, take it."

Evelyn hesitated, eyeing the gleaming card. "This is too valuable. I canโ€™t accept it."

"Itโ€™s a gift. Just take it," Olivia insisted, her voice firm. "Especially with so many judgmental people around."

Beatriceโ€™s face flushed with humiliation. "Who do you think youโ€™re insulting?"

Seething with jealousy, Penelope couldnโ€™t resist a snide remark. "Whatโ€™s the point of taking the card? You still canโ€™t afford anything here."

Olivia arched a brow. "Not a problem. This card has a seven-figure spending limit. Evelyn can use it however she likes."

Beatrice narrowed her eyes. "Who exactly are you? And why are you being so generous to Evelyn?"

Penelope sneered, fueling the fire. "Evelynโ€™s nothing but a gold-digging fraud. She schemed her way into marrying Nathaniel, and when she realized she wouldnโ€™t get a dime, she started talking about divorce and chasing other men. Watch outโ€”she might set her sights on your husband next."

Evelynโ€™s expression darkened. She hadnโ€™t expected Penelope to publicly expose her three-year marriage to Nathaniel.

Her voice turned icy. "If I were truly a gold digger, Iโ€™d have taken control of the Whitmore Group by now, and all of you wouldโ€™ve been kicked out of the family estate."

Beatrice scoffed. "Oh, Evelyn, I knew youโ€™d say that. Thatโ€™s exactly why I made you sign a prenup. If you and Nathaniel divorce, you wonโ€™t get a single cent!"

Evelyn smirked. "Seems youโ€™re not up to date. Nathaniel tore up the prenup right in front of me."

"What? Thatโ€™s impossible!" Beatrice paled. The prenup had been their only leverage against Evelyn.

Evelyn pressed on. "And letโ€™s not forgetโ€”before Eleanor Whitmoreโ€™s surgery, she made Nathaniel sign an agreement ensuring that any child I bear inherits the Whitmore Group."

Penelopeโ€™s eyes darted to Evelynโ€™s stomach, realization dawning. She was pregnant.

Though she didnโ€™t know why Evelyn had kept it hidden, Penelope couldnโ€™t shake the feeling that Evelyn was playing a much deeper game.
