Chapter 203

A tense silence fell between them.

Evelyn never imagined she would run into Victoria at the hospital.

Evelyn quickly whispered, "Nathaniel, that woman in that man's arms looks just like Victoria. Am I hallucinating?"

Nathaniel's lips thinned. She might be right. It was Victoria.

Irritated, he stormed into the hospital without another word.

Evelyn hurried after him. "Nathaniel, why don't we go ask them? It might be Victoria. We should check on her. Even though you're divorced now, for old times' sakeโ€”"

"Enough!" He stopped abruptly, his jaw clenched. The sight of another man carrying Victoria into the emergency room had set him off. "Where's your brother?"

"He's on the third floor. I can take you to him." A faint smirk played on Evelyn's lips. She knew exactly how to twist the knife.

If she framed it like this, Nathaniel wouldnโ€™t spare another thought for Victoria.

From the way that man had cradled Victoria in his arms, Evelyn could tell there was something between them.

And Nathaniel? As a man, how could he possibly tolerate that?

They stepped into the elevator just as Julian rushed down the stairs.

Julian headed straight for the emergency room.

A man stood beside Victoria, explaining urgently to the nurse and doctor, "She collapsed suddenly. It might be low blood sugar or extreme shock."

Julian narrowed his eyes and strode forward. "I know this patient's condition. Everyone else, step out."

Hearing his voice, Victoria finally relaxed. With Julian here, she knew she was safe.

Still, Jonathan hesitated. He gave her one last worried glance. "Victoria, I'll wait outside. Don't be afraid."

Julian studied him with a sharp gaze. Her admirer? Not badโ€”handsome and attentive. But he hasnโ€™t earned my approval yet. Not just anyone gets to be my sisterโ€™s man.

Inside the emergency room, Julian examined Victoria. Knowing she was pregnant, he already had an idea of what had happened.

Half an hour later, Victoria finally stirred.

Her eyelids fluttered open. Seeing Julian beside her, she exhaled in relief. "Julian."

"Victoria, you're awake. Any discomfort?"

"Just dizzy. Everything went black, and I felt cold before I passed out. Am I sick? Is the baby okay?" Her hand instinctively cradled her stomach.

The babyโ€™s safety was her biggest concern.

Julian hesitated for a moment. "The baby is fineโ€”strong and healthy. But youโ€”you're malnourished and under too much stress. Thatโ€™s why you fainted."

He sat beside her, debating his next words. "Victoria, I know you might not want to hear this, but your pregnancy is becoming obvious. You canโ€™t hide it forever."

As her brother, he felt he had the right to knowโ€”who was the father?

Maybe, just maybe, his position would finally get her to talk.
