Chapter 485

The longer Beatrice Harrington thought about it, the more furious she became.

As the esteemed matriarch of the Whitmore family, she was accustomed to nothing less than reverence and deference in Bern City.

Never in her life had she suffered such humiliation!

If Eleanor Whitmore hadnโ€™t deemed the VIP membership card too excessive and wasteful, Beatrice would have undoubtedly owned one herself.

Then she wouldnโ€™t have had to endure this disgrace at the hands of Evelyn Carter today!

Penelope Whitmore nodded eagerly, her voice sharp with indignation. "Aunt Beatrice, you must make Nathaniel understandโ€”this mall belongs to our family. Itโ€™s absolutely outrageous that some insignificant boutique dared to throw you out!"

"They clearly donโ€™t know their place. Nathaniel should shut that store down immediately and expel themโ€”along with Evelyn!"

Penelope seethed, finding Evelynโ€™s arrogance unbearable.

Beatrice shared the sentiment. How dare Evelyn, a mere servant once cast out by their family, behave so boldly toward her? Without hesitation, she dialed Nathanielโ€™s number.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel had just finished a meeting and answered, his tone calm. "Mother."

"Nathaniel, I need to speak with you about something infuriating!"

Beatriceโ€™s voice trembled with barely suppressed rage, her words dripping with wounded pride.

Nathanielโ€™s response was cool. "Who in Bern City would dare cross you?"

In Bern City, Beatriceโ€™s name commanded respect. People fell over themselves to please her.

"Who else but Evelyn would have the audacity?"

At the mention of Evelyn, Nathanielโ€™s interest sharpened. "Where did you see Evelyn?"

"At Centura Mall. Nathaniel, youโ€™re a major shareholder there. Call the manager and have that store shut down immediately. They shouldnโ€™t be allowed to operate another day."

Nathanielโ€™s brow lifted slightly. "Why?"

"Itโ€™s all because of Evelyn! She had the nerve to have the staff kick Penelope and me outโ€”just because she had some VIP membership!"

Beatriceโ€™s voice rose in outrage. "As the mother of the Whitmore Groupโ€™s CEO, Iโ€™ve never been treated this way before. Nathaniel, Evelynโ€™s arrogance is intolerable. You must correct this!"

Nathaniel frowned. "She has a VIP membership there? Thatโ€™s not easily obtained."

Given Evelynโ€™s current circumstances, it was unlikely she could have secured one herself.

Unless it came from Julian Montgomery?

Beatrice scoffed. "Exactly! But Evelyn had some woman with her, claiming to be her sisterโ€”and it was that woman who provided the membership."

Her tone turned suspicious. "But Evelyn is supposed to be an orphan, isnโ€™t she? Where did this wealthy, influential โ€˜sisterโ€™ come from?"

"Her sister?"

Nathanielโ€™s mind raced with questions. Had Evelyn truly found her family?

Yet she hadnโ€™t mentioned a word of it to him.

After a pause, he asked carefully, "Mother, is there anything else you noticed?"

"Iโ€”I donโ€™t know much else. But I suspect Evelynโ€™s so-called sister might be involved in something shady."

Beatriceโ€™s voice dripped with disdain. "She doesnโ€™t seem like the type to legitimately own such a card. Maybe she stole it or works as a servant in some wealthy household!"

Penelope hesitated before adding softly, "But the name and number on the card matched hers. It was verified."

After all, a stolen card wouldnโ€™t have matching details.

Beatrice shot her a glare before snapping, "Nathaniel, Iโ€™ve told you everything. Call the mall manager now and have Evelyn removed! I refuse to tolerate this humiliation any longer."

Nathaniel was genuinely stunned by the revelation of Evelynโ€™s possible family ties.

Something wasnโ€™t adding up.
