Chapter 315
Evelyn's icy glare locked onto Victoria. "I warned you before not to test me. Clearly, you haven't learned your lesson."
Moments ago, Victoria had deliberately tried to run her over. If Evelyn hadn't dodged in time, the outcome could have been catastrophic.
Even if Victoria hadn't intended to kill her, as a pregnant woman, Evelyn couldn't risk such reckless endangerment.
Rage burned through Evelyn's veins as she glared at Victoria.
The woman truly was a venomous snake.
Victoria struggled, but Evelyn's grip on her hair was unrelenting. Every slight movement sent sharp pains across her scalp.
Through gritted teeth, Victoria hissed, "You're delusional. I never touched you. But you damaged my carโyou'll pay for every scratch!"
"Whether you admit it or not, the truth is obvious. Surveillance cameras don't lie," Evelyn countered coolly.
"Call the police if you want. I don't care. But think carefullyโwho do you think they'll arrest?"
With a sharp yank, Evelyn delivered a stinging slap across Victoria's face. "If you dare provoke me again, I won't be this merciful."
Releasing her grip, Evelyn dusted her hands off dismissively. "If it weren't for Eleanor's surgery today, this wouldn't end here."
"Consider this my good deedโaccumulating blessings for Eleanor's recovery."
With Eleanor in critical condition, Evelyn refused to escalate things further.
Victoria clutched her throbbing scalp, humiliation burning through her. Never in her life had she been treated this way.
She wouldn't let it stand.
"You think just because Eleanor favors you, you can do whatever you want?" Victoria spat. "Beatrice despises you. Remember that."
A dark wish flickered in Victoria's mindโif only Eleanor wouldn't survive the surgery. Then nothing would stand between her and Nathaniel.
With Beatrice on her side, Evelyn would never compare.
"I'm not cash. I don't need everyone to like me," Evelyn shot back.
Her eyes glinted with something dangerous, sending a chill down Victoria's spine.
This wasn't the Evelyn she knew. Victoria had gravely underestimated her.
Without another word, Evelyn turned and strode into the hospital. She wouldn't waste another second on Victoria.
Moments later, Victoria caught up, but Evelyn ignored her completely.
Smoothing her hair, Victoria reminded herself why she was hereโto see Eleanor. Appearances mattered.
As for Evelyn? She'd deal with her laterโwith Beatrice's help.
At the elevator, two broad-shouldered bodyguards in black blocked their path.
One stepped forward, halting Victoria. "No entry permitted."
Evelyn, however, walked past unchallenged.
Victoria's eyes widened. "Why is she allowed in?"
Even Evelyn paused, surprised by the restriction.
The bodyguard's tone was flat. "Only Whitmores permitted today. She's family. You're not."
Evelyn glanced back, lips curling in disdain.
"Like I saidโas long as I'm here, you'll never take my place." She clicked her tongue mockingly. "Wait outside like a good girl."
Furious, Victoria stomped her foot and dialed Penelope. How dare they stop her from visiting Eleanor?
Outside the ward, more bodyguards stood watch.
The heavy tension in the air confirmed itโtoday's surgery was no ordinary procedure.
