Chapter 265
Evelyn couldn't help but smirk as she watched Priscilla and Beverly exchange vicious insults, their voices sharp with venom.
The sight was so absurd, she nearly laughed until tears streamed down her face.
They got exactly what they deserved.
Turning to Edward, she warned in a low voice, "You'd better get that ten thousand dollars back, or your entire family will pay the price."
"That money is undeniable proof of your involvement in human trafficking."
Edward looked just as stunned, still reeling from the revelation that Giselleโs child wasnโt his.
This entire mess had forced him into a hasty marriageโone he never wouldโve considered otherwise.
Furious, Edward grabbed Giselle by the arm. "Whereโs the money? Hand it over!"
Just then, an officer stepped into the room. "Who is Edward Simmons? And where are his family members?"
Without missing a beat, Evelyn spoke up. "Thatโs him, but it was Priscilla and Giselle who took the illegal funds."
Giselle paled, desperation lacing her voice. "You canโt arrest me! Do you even know whose child Iโm carrying? Itโs the future heir of Globex Corporationโs CEO!"
Disgust twisted Edwardโs face. "His granddaughter is your age! How could you sleep with a man that old?"
Giselle scoffed. "What choice did I have? Did you really think Iโd settle for a broke loser like you?"
"If I hadnโt needed someone to step in, I never wouldโve touched you. Ten thousand dollars was a fortune to you, wasnโt it?"
Priscilla sneered. "Exactly! With your familyโs financial state, you should be grateful she even looked your way!"
Edward looked shattered, as if the weight of the world had crushed him. He stumbled toward the window ledge, murmuring, "I donโt want to live anymore. Itโs too much."
Seeing him about to jump, Beverly lunged forward. "Edward, stop! Sheโs not worth it!"
Priscilla scoffed. "Excuse me? Who are you calling โnot worth itโ?"
Beverly didnโt hesitate. She charged at Giselle, slapping her hard across the face. "You deceitful witch! How dare you play with my sonโs heart!"
Giselleโs face swelled instantly, and blood trickled down her legsโsigns of a miscarriage.
Evelyn gasped. "Sheโs pregnant!"
Chaos erupted.
Nathaniel quickly pulled Evelyn back. "Stay out of this. Itโs not safe."
Evelyn retreated, pressing a protective hand over her own stomach.
She hadnโt expected things to escalate this far.
Soon, Giselle was rushed to the ER, while Beverly and Edward were arrested for human trafficking.
Beverly turned to Evelyn, pleading. "We were tricked too! Canโt you just demand the money back? Why involve the police?"
Evelyn met the officerโs gaze firmly. "I have no ties to them. Handle this as you see fit."
Forgiveness was impossible. Their betrayal ran too deep.
As they were led away, silence finally settled over the hospital room.
Moments later, Nathaniel returned. "Giselle lost the baby. And sheโll never conceive again."
Evelyn sighed. "I figured. Given her history of abortions, it was bound to happen."
