Chapter 435

Evelyn's eyes widened in shock at Nathaniel's words.

Just as she opened her mouth to respond, Nathaniel cut her off with a raised brow. "But the divorce papers were torn. And Evelyn never signed anything. Legally, we're still married."

Andrew nearly lost his composure. He took a threatening step forward, his gaze locked on Nathaniel. "Care to repeat that?"

The tension between the two men crackled in the air, one wrong word away from exploding.

Sensing the danger, Evelyn quickly grabbed Andrew's arm. "Stop it. There's no point fighting over this."

"Stay out of it, Evelyn," Andrew snapped, his anger directed at Nathaniel. "I'll make sure this divorce happens."

To Andrew, no one had the right to force Evelyn into anything. As his sister, she could end a marriage in an instant if she wanted to.

Nathaniel smirked. "Oh? Try me."

Alarmed, Evelyn tugged Andrew away. "Enough! Let's go. I'm starving."

"Don't let him intimidate you," Andrew insisted. "Divorce is always an option. No marriage is unbreakable."

Evelyn sighed. "I know. The cooling-off period is almost over anyway. Arguing now is pointless. Let's just leave."

Nathaniel's smug expression faltered at her words.

His eyes darkened as he watched them walk away.

Frustration boiled inside him. He kicked a pebble at his feet before turning to Robert. "How much time is left on the cooling-off period?"

"About ten days."

Nathaniel frowned. "What does that mean?"

"Normally, couples proceed with the divorce after the cooling-off period ends. But if they don't, they'd have to refile."

A spark of hope flickered in Nathaniel's eyes.

So if they didn't act in time, the divorce wouldn't go through?

Robert continued, "There are other ways to get divorced, though. One option is taking it to court."

Nathaniel's jaw tightened. "Find me the best divorce lawyer."

This wasn't over yet.

Meanwhile, Evelyn sat beside Andrew in the car, studying him briefly. "Andrew, how did you find me?"

"Christopher called you. He wanted to pick you up from campus, but Nathaniel answered. They argued, and Christopher called me, worried about your relationship with Nathaniel."

"Did you tell him everything?"

Evelyn was slowly accepting that her brothers knew about her past with Nathaniel. Secrets never stayed buried.

Besides, she was moving to Nord City soon. There was no reason to hide anything anymore.

Andrew kept his eyes on the road. "I couldn't keep it from him. Christopherโ€™s sharpโ€”he probably already suspected something."

"I called your university and checked nearby hospitals. Thatโ€™s how I tracked you down."
