Chapter 294

Alexander's voice cut through the tension. "Are you implying Evelyn is the hacker?"

"Who else could it be?" Nathaniel's confident reply came through the phone. "I've verified her digital footprint. As my protรฉgรฉ, she's mastered system infiltration beyond anyone's expectations."

The revelation sent Alexander reeling.

His baby sister had breached their corporate firewalls!

After a stunned silence, admiration crept into his voice as he studied the screens. "Remarkable progress. Our entire tech team is outmatched. Truly impressive."

Of course his brilliant sister would excel at this too. She'd always been extraordinary.

The stern CEO's expression softened into unmistakable sibling pride.

Baffled employees exchanged glances at their boss's sudden mood shift.

What could possibly explain this dramatic transformation?

Hanging up, Alexander turned to the sweating technicians. "Still can't locate the intruder?" His tone carried unexpected satisfaction.

The tech lead stammered, "No, sir. The hacker vanished without trace. We can't even retrieve the IP for recruitment purposes."

Alexander tsked. "Pathetic. Top-tier resumes yet you're bested by a single hacker. What exactly am I paying you for?"

Despite the reprimand, he seemed oddly pleased with the situation.

The confused department head wondered if mass termination was imminent.

Having subtly bragged about his sister's skills, Alexander's demeanor darkened as he faced Maxwell. "Explain what you've done to provoke this attack. Is this about the Queensbury redevelopment?"

Maxwell's throat went dry. "I followed protocol exactly! The project's cleanโ€”it can't be related."

"Prove it. Bring me all demolition documents immediately."

Panic set in as Maxwell realized the impending exposure of the one uncompensated family.

Victoria's sudden entrance provided temporary relief. "Alexander, darling, let me handle this mundane issue with Mr. Harrison."

"What are you doing here?" Alexander demanded bluntly.

"Corporate security alerts reached me. As family, I came to support you." Her saccharine smile didn't reach her eyes. "Have you identified the hacker? Such audacity! Engage Nathanielโ€”he'll make them regret this."

Though Evelyn sat nearby with a laptop, Victoria dismissed the possibility of her involvement.

Alexander's jaw tightened. "This doesn't concern you."

He'd already decided to let the matter restโ€”Evelyn's impressive skills deserved encouragement, not punishment. Perhaps she'd consider cybersecurity as a career.

His attention snapped back to Maxwell. "I won't repeat myself. Those documents. Now."

Victoria's manicured nails dug into her palms as she bit back frustration.
