Chapter 413

Evelyn hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Andrew, are you serious?"

"I don't joke about matters like this," Andrew replied firmly.

A knot of unease twisted in Evelyn's stomach. "Then... you must not have gone to see Nathaniel yet, have you?"

"I just did. I came straight here to pick you up afterward," Andrew answered.

Dread pooled in Evelyn's chest.

If only she had clarified everything with Andrew sooner, none of this would be happening.

She turned to him, frustration lacing her voice. "Andrew, why didn't you tell me about something this important?"

"Evelyn, this is my job. You shouldnโ€™t have to worry about any of it."

"Walking away from a marriage with nothing is unacceptable. Demanding what youโ€™re owed doesnโ€™t make you greedy."

"Those are just toxic ideals men push on women to make them feel guilty for valuing financial security. In the end, itโ€™s always the men who benefit," Andrew explained.

Evelyn exhaled sharply. "I know youโ€™re trying to protect me, but my situation with Nathaniel is more complicated than most divorces."

"Thereโ€™s no difference, Evelyn. Trust me," Andrew reassured her. "Iโ€™ll make sure you get everything youโ€™re entitled to."

Exhaustion weighed on her as she murmured, "Andrew, these terms youโ€™ve laid outโ€”Nathaniel transferring all his shares to me, millions in cash, multiple properties, stakes in subsidiariesโ€”how did you even uncover all this?"

Of course, Evelyn knew the Whitmore familyโ€™s wealth was staggering.

Nathanielโ€™s shares alone were worth a fortune.

How could she possibly demand control of the entire Whitmore Group?

Andrew smirked. "Have you forgotten what I do for a living?"

"Andrew, thereโ€™s no way the Whitmores would agree to this," Evelyn said skeptically.

Andrew shrugged. "Nathaniel already did."

What?

Evelyn froze. "Nathaniel agreed? Thatโ€™s impossible!"

"He even signed it. See for yourself," Andrew insisted.

Evelyn flipped to the last pageโ€”and there it was. Nathanielโ€™s bold, unmistakable signature.

Now she was completely lost.

How could he have agreed?

Was he out of his mind?

Andrew glanced at the traffic light ahead. "For all his flaws, Nathaniel is surprisingly generous when it comes to your divorce."

"He signed without even reading the terms. Seems he trusts you a great deal."

Evelyn thought bitterly, Of course he didnโ€™t read it. Just as I expected.

Given Nathanielโ€™s personality, it made no sense for him to agree to such extreme demands.

She struggled to find words. "How did the conversation go? Why would he sign without even looking?"

This wasnโ€™t like Nathaniel at all.

Andrew arched a brow. "I drafted it this way as a negotiation tactic, never expecting him to agree. But he signed it blindly."

"He probably assumed it was the settlement you prepared. Thatโ€™s why I said he must trust you."

Evelyn was stunned. Had she really underestimated Nathanielโ€™s trust in her?

As she stared at the signed agreement, emotions tangled inside her.

"Evelyn, you donโ€™t need to deal with any of this. Iโ€™ll handle everything," Andrew assured her.

"Andrew, thereโ€™s something you donโ€™t know. Before marrying Nathaniel, I signed a prenup. None of these assets are legally mine."

"What?"

Andrew jerked the car to the side of the road, his eyes wide with disbelief. "Evelyn, tell me you didnโ€™t."

"I did," she admitted.

Andrew cursed under his breath. "No wonder Nathaniel signed so easily. He was expecting this all along, wasnโ€™t he?"
