Chapter 341
Evelyn's lips curved into a bitter smile as she watched Nathaniel scroll through his contacts. "It's not there."
The air between them grew thick with tension.
"Why not? I specifically pinned our chat." His brows furrowed in confusion as he double-checked, but her name was nowhere to be found.
She cleared her throat awkwardly. "My number's been blocked."
Nathaniel's head snapped up, his expression darkening. "Who blocked your number?" When no one answered, he whirled around, his voice sharp. "Was it you? I let you use my phone, and you had the audacity to block Evelyn?"
Victoria's eyes welled with tears. "I begged you to pin our chat, but you refused! And now you've pinned hers? How could you do this to me? I'm your girlfriend!"
A cold laugh escaped him. "Know your place. You don't even compare to her." His jaw clenched, but he forced himself to stay composedโEvelyn was watching.
The anger in his eyes melted into something softer as he turned back to Evelyn. "This is just a misunderstanding. I didnโt block you. Please donโt be upset."
"I'm not." Evelyn's gaze flickered to Victoria, who was now sobbing into her hands. A pang of sympathy twisted in her chest, though she wasnโt sure what to say.
Typical playboy behavior.
The way he casually suggested breaking up only confirmed it.
Just then, an officer stood, clearing his throat. "Enough. Miss Carter, sign here, then youโre free to go. Handle your personal matters elsewhere."
Evelyn quickly signed the document. "Apologies for the disturbance."
Silence settled over the room, broken only by Victoriaโs muffled cries.
Nathaniel exhaled sharply. "Evelyn, letโs go."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Sheโs not worth another second." He strode toward the bedroom. "Give me a minute to change."
Left alone, Evelyn shifted uncomfortably. She glanced at Victoria, still curled on the couch. "Heyโ"
Before she could finish, Victoria shot her a venomous glare and stormed into the bedroom after Nathaniel.
Evelyn sighed, staying rooted in place. It would be inappropriate to follow.
Moments later, Nathanielโs voice carried through the doorโsharp, furious. "What the hell are you doing? Are you out of your mind? Put your clothes back on!"
The door slammed shut.
Inside, Victoria seized her chance, pressing herself against him. "Nathaniel, I know you still care about me. Last night, you said my body was perfectโ"
His fingers dug into her chin, forcing her to meet his icy stare. "Yes. But then you insulted my sister. Youโre nothing but a temporary distraction. Did you really think I wouldnโt find out about the lies youโve been spreading using my name?"
Her breath hitched.
"If you want to walk away unharmed, leave. Now. Or my next call will be to my lawyer."
Nathaniel had never hidden his reputation as a playboy. Victoria had clawed her way into his life, scheming to cut ties between him and his exโonly to end up as just another disposable fling.
Heโd tolerated her antics because she wasnโt the only one.
But there was a line. And blocking Evelyn? Unforgivable.
Victoria shrank under his glare, realizingโtoo lateโthat sheโd crossed it.
Disgusted, he shoved her away. "Pack your things and get out of Silvercrest. If I catch you near Evelyn again, I wonโt hesitate to ruin you."
His voice dropped to a lethal whisper. "And trust me, darlingโI can do it with one phone call."
